A Panoroïd photo just for fun.
In the post from the 17th july, you already saw two panoroïds made after the poster of the magazine Photo celebrating their 500 covers. In fact I have realised about 10 interesting images that give an idea of the diversity my technic can produce.
In the 70 on the French TV, there was little programmes of several minutes between the major programs that where called "Interlude". Their fonction was to offer either little games or present images of a region. They were not commercial neither advertisement.
So I decided between the posts to introduce some of the panoroïds I have created and give a special comment on them to allow a better understanding of my technic. Even if the images are covered by copyright, these images are not yet planned to be included in my commercial catalog, they are not for sale.
Photo Magazine Special poster with 500 covers. 3rd panoroïd presented.
Copyright Jean Manuel de Noronha, Paris France 2013.
The objective of this image is to present simultaneously a close view and a global view. This image is not perfect in the middle at the level of the 3rd raw of covers there is a visible distorsion, the same is repeated at the 5th raw. These imperfections could be improved with more trainning. But this is not the most important. Having been able just to frame the photo, kept an acceptable balance in the parallelism of the raws, and have the letters readable is already interesting. With a reflex camera such a photo is not possible to produce in one single shot. Here the laws of the standard field depth are changed. I recall that with digital cameras the parameters are set at minimal levels when the panoramic mode is used. So here no use of trepoid, no field depth control with a high figure, etc...
The idea is to have fun in applying the panoramic photo to fields where it is not expected to be used and see what can be done.

An Oblique Gallery. Little treaty of photographical geometry. Vol. 1.
Volume 1
Une Galerie Oblique. Petit traité de géométrie
photographique.
(An Oblique Gallery. Little treaty of photographical
geometry.)
This book illustrates the possibilities of this new technic
of shooting panoramic photos with a subject which is without any
originality : a grey facade of a gallery located in a private yard.
It was
chosen to show the power of the « panoroïd » technic which was not
considered with interest by the different professional and photographers I met
last year.
This booklet is a
graphical Manifesto, photos are shown but not explained. All the
traditional rules of perspective in photography are redesigned.

My Launchingpeople Project : A tricycle to promote creativity
Last week I heard from the project managed by Samsung
regarding creative personnal projects. In my field as I am confronted to a lack of mobility to
promote my photos, I thought in designing a special tricycle in order to sell my
photos in different places and markets of Paris. So I presented this idea which has
been accepted. In www.launchingpeople.fr,
Video & Photo category, my project is present and you can support it.
The two photos reproduced also in this post are Panoroïds
made after a special poster reproducing 500 covers of the reference Photo magazine issued
last month june 2013. They are not from the commercial catalog but are nevertheless
covered by a copyright. They show that my shooting technic can be applied to
any subject, and not only monuments or landscapes.
Just as a reminder these photos were created as they are
without any use of software touching up, accessory or trick. One is completely
new as the panoramic is used with a subject of less than 20cm length. The poor
quality of the photos is the result of my lack of knowledge and do not
correspond to their initial condition.

My catalog of self-edited booklet
My booklets allow you to understand how I generally work. I consider myself as a craftsman and to work on a subject I have to respect a certain methodology that requires to learn how my subject is built and will allow me afterwards to look for really innovative images. As I am quite high in my standards, its happens that sometimes I have to work several days on an idea of a photo because when I am shooting it I am not able to see correctly the details on the back screen of my digital camera. So it is only in the evening, back home that I can test the impact of the photo on my 20"computer screen.
When I begin the
photos I have generally no idea of what I will get, sometimes I am attracted by
an aspect I have not studied yet. I am pleased when I reach a state of
understanding of the subject that allows me to shoot instinctively, almost in
« transe ». It also happens that I need several days to reach what I
was expecting. I want to be surprised or « stoned » by
the image , then it is pure magic.
Presentation of the booklet relative to Island Saint Louis located in the center of Paris.

Réf. Vol715A5Spi
For all these reasons I decided to present my work through single photos and booklets when the subject is adapted. The latter have the advantage to be used as a catalog if someone wants to order a photo not immediately available. The panoroïde catalog for 2013 contains about 300 photos and 20 booklets. Each booklet will be presented in the present blog. The booklets generally contain 15 or 20 images, they are laser printed on a 160gr white paper, cover and back page are of plastic for the small standard reference size : 14,85 x 21 cm, half A4 or A5, 5,85 x 8,27 inches.
The content of the booklet is the following : a cover
page, a presentation and a summary of the photos page and one page per photo. The booklet is written in
French, the English translation of the texts will be presented in the present
blog in the posts presenting the corresponding volumes.
Presently the booklets are written in French, and their size is 14,85 x 21 cm, European A5 size (half A4) or 5"85 x 8"27. The small texts will have their translation edited in the present blog in their corresponding future post.
The booklets can be ordered in a bigger size, 21 x 29,70 cm, A4 format, or 29,70 x 42 cm, A3 format, but presented unbound containing individual plates. In these publication the photos are reproduced as laser copies on a 160gr white paper. The cover and back page are made of transparent plastic.

My weekly booth at the "Marché de la Création de la Bastille" in Paris
For a photographer in Paris the possibilities to present his
works at reasonnable conditions is reduced. Among them there is the Marché de
la Création, a market for artists, that takes place each Saturday from 10 A.M.
to 19 P.M. along the year. To be able to exhibit you need to present your works
to the organisation, SOMAREP, and a joined comitee with representatives from
the town hall must select you. After acceptance you receive a personnal card.
The market is located along the Boulevard Richard-Lenoir beginning at the Bastille. The number of the artists changes as there is no obligation to be present every Saturday. Personnaly I will be present there each Saturday in July and August 2013. Many types of art are present : painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery, textile and leather crafts,
Each exhibitor has to provide the equipment of the booth and the lightning, power is free. After having made the instalation of the booth , I remain there to promote my work and provide explanations during the day.
This market is very interesting because it is very well located not too far from the center of Paris. Near the Marais, the old Paris and the « Gay Paris » , the market attracts a very large type of visitors : foreigners from all countries, local parisians and french tourists.
There is another similar market on sondays which take place near Montparnasse, Avenue Edgar Quinet. But it is smaller and I am not able to be there this year.

My first Panoroïd sold in 2012 : A self-portrait.
Self Portrait
Panaroïd Titel: Shadow's Rolling Out. (Déroulement d'une ombre)
Panaroïd reference : 14 08 V04
This is the first photo sold in my first public presentation on the 25th june 2012 (during the Nuit de la Photo, Place Saint Sulpice, Paris). It was purchased by a polish woman who did not want to show a photo from Paris that would represent the Eiffel Tower to her friends. At that period I had not produced the "Eiffelnoïdes" (See future posts, Booklet nos. 4 & 5).
When it is possible I try to tell a small story with my images. This belongs to the first attempts to apply my technique to a person and not a still monument. My shadow was easy to convince to accept the trial. It also respected my anonymity. Of course my shadow is much nicer and thin than the real subject of reference. This subject is now a subject I work regularly on, see future posts on "Self-Shadows", Booklet no. 17.
This subject is symbolic of my way of working and is representative of my attitude about creativity in photography in France. In my country legislation regarding the taking of a photo and then its distribution/selling is very restrictive. For instance to reproduce the portrait of a person and sell it you need a written acceptation from the person in the photo if she can be recognized. By choosing my shadow I remain free of all this legislation. Secondly a shadow, a pavement is not expensive. Every one can imitate me and find a similar environment to produce a creative image and enter in a friendly open challenge. It is just and only a question of creativity.

A new Blog to present a new future trend in photography : PANOROÏDS & P.S.P.
When movement re-creates the reality ...... of the photographer in 4D.
Jean Manuel de Noronha will present in the present blog his new panoramic photos, called PANOROÏDS, based on a new dynamic shooting technic invented in february 2012.
All the panoramics presented here are produced in one shot, without any cheating, recomposition, cutting or pasting of images, and specially without any software work on computer after the photos were taken.
No additional accessory, filter, mirror, special lens is used. They are all digital photos without any manual control of the following: focus, speed, depth of field, time or film sensibility. The digital camera predefines automatically all these parameters at their minimal grade.
So it is creativity and the impact of these new images , that must surpass the initial poor conditions. This does not means that the technic of the Panoroïds is simple.
Panoroïd showing the Village St. Paul where I work. Title : A stormy day. Copyright 2013.
In the catalogue for 2013 Jean Manuel de Noronha classifies his images in 3 categories:
PANOROÏD (2012) : These panoramics present special distorsions that are either small, medium or large, but in any case the subject remains identifiable.
PANORAMAX (2013) : These panoramics seem to be normal like a classical one, but the conditions of their creation are completely non standard.
SPACOÏD (2013) : The objective of these panoramics is to produce an image with almost no identification of their subject. Freed from this link to reality, the photo becomes almost abstract.
When it is refered in the present blog to "standard panoramic photos", the author means a photo taken with a regular rotation of the camera taking the body of the photographer as its center.
Today the technology available in the camera is so powerful that it is not necessary to be a computing specialist and a graphical engineer to produce original photos.
The author likes to define his type of photos as : Panoramic Street Photography (2012), P.S.P.. He believes because the movement is present in many fields of new artistic domains, that it will also touch the photography and that it will become a massive trend. PSP will be to photo, what Street Art is to Modern Art, or what Hip Hop is to Classical Dance, or Free Style to Skying.
This type of photography brings so much fun during the shooting and the presentation of the photos to other people that it will not be possible to avoid it in the future. When you get the virus of P.S.P. the personal challenge is present for each new image. The limits are the one you and the camera define.
The author is also very concerned by the environment of the photos, he is always in the conditions available to every one and he tries to respect the legislation of the country regarding the right of images.
All the Panoroïds have a certificate of authenticity on their back, with a reference number and a signature.
To protect the images I have masked with small coins certain parts of the photos but the main aspect is preserved and you will be able to judge the images nevertheless.
All the images in this blog will have a reference number and a title. With these elements it is possible
for you to contact the author if you are interested in a purchase. In a near future there will be a Ebayshop to allow orders and payment through Paypal. Presently the photos are sold in the two following standard sizes :
13 x 18 cm 5"12 x 7"08 5 € (Euros ) 6,50 USD 4£
20 x 30 cm 7"87 x 11"81 10 € ( Euros) 13,00 USD 8£
Shipping charges will be added.
Other sizes are possible on request.
The only place where the photos can be seen today is every Saturday in Paris in The Marché de la Création at La Bastille, Boulevard Richard Lenoir , from 10AM to 7PM. The market is free.
